Grilled Maine Lamb Steak


  • 8 oz ground lamb
  • 2 cloves roasted garlic
  • ¼ tsp fennel seed
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 oz blue cheese- gorgonzola preferred
  • 1 slice bread for grilling fococcia,
  • Olive oil
  • ½ red onion sliced and lightly salt and pepper


  • Pre heat the grill to high for 15 minutes
  • In a mixing bowl place lamb, garlic, fennel and salt and pepper
  • Mix thoroughly and shape into ovals and place into fridge to chill
  • When grill is hot place onions on and grill till lightly charred, set aside in bowl and drizzle with olive oil
  • Brush lamb steaks with olive oil and place on grill
  • Cook lamb evenly on each side for 8 minutes {approx}
  • Place cheese and onions on top and pull off the grill to rest for 5 minutes
  • Brush bread with olive oil and grill on each side to warm
  • Place steak on bread and serve with small salad
