We love beer. We also love chocolate. In the spirit of mixing those two passions, we’re excited to announce that, in our tasting room, we’ll soon be selling truffles made with our beer.
This delicious line of Allagash chocolates will be made by Laura Rudy of La Crème Chocolat. Laura’s experiences across Europe, Belgium, and in some of the more hallowed kitchens in Maine—Standard Baking Co. and the Black Point Inn—solidified her love of chocolate. Now, at her home in southern Maine, she produces (literally) hand-crafted chocolates using 300-year-old Belgian techniques. She aims for about 80-90 pieces per batch, each of which takes two-to-three days of work to achieve.
Ganache is, by definition, a combination of chocolate and cream. It is also as tasty as it looks.
We gave Laura four different beers and let her run wild. Here are the four Allagash Brewing Company truffles that will make their appearance at the brewery starting Saturday (9/16).
Bourbon Caramel Truffle – with Allagash Curieux
Dark Chocolate ganache over a bourbon vanilla bean-infused sea-salted caramel. Topped with spiced pecans.
Raspberry Truffle – with Allagash Coolship Red
Tart, crisp raspberries and 53% chocolate ganache crowned with a crystallized raspberry heart.
Orange Spice Truffle – with Allagash White
Flavors of bright spice, orange, and coriander cloaked in 58% dark chocolate.
Hazelnut Stout Truffle – with Allagash Black
A dark milk chocolate hazelnut ganache topped with buttery, caramelized hazelnut praline.
To celebrate this unique occasion, we’re holding a chocolate release party on Saturday from 2-5PM. There will be chocolates, music from Adam Waxman, and flights of free beer. Hope you can make it!
