For the fourth year in a row, Allagash has made it onto the list of Best Places to Work in Maine. Not only that, we made it to our highest spot yet on the list: #8 in the medium-sized company category (50-249 employees). Needless to say, we’re pumped.
As our Founder, Rob Tod, puts it, “we know that happy, fulfilled employees create an authentic workplace vibe that customers are drawn to, and that attracts other top talent.”
The prize for winning our annual employee Pinewood Derby? Eternal glory (AKA bragging rights).
The above quote refers pretty directly to our core value of Family. And our core values are a lot more than words, we put them into practice every day. Family, to us, involves business-oriented stuff like profit sharing and solid health insurance as well as less tangible stuff like staff lobster bakes, our bowling team, and paid group volunteer activities.
It’s a value that makes it easy to work hard. And at our twice-yearly all-staff meetings we shut down operations to get together and talk about everything that’s going on around the brewery.
Ben and Billy battle the raging Allagash during a company paddle trip to our brewery’s eponymous river.
“Not only does this validate the hard work going on all over our company, it gives us all insight in what the future holds for Allagash,” says Rob.
Of course, on top of work and values, there are some sweet perks to being at Allagash: ping pong, darts, weekly bagel days in our break room, paddleboards and canoes that are free to rent out, a four-day workweek in several departments, and an all-expenses paid trip to Belgium for those who reach the five-year mark with the brewery (to name a few).
Friendsgiving at the brewery.
