To set the scene, imagine 417 oak barrels. Each could hold around 53 gallons of beer and had previously been used to make Curieux, our golden ale aged in bourbon barrels. Now, imagine turning those barrels into… food?
That’s pretty much exactly what we were able to do—with the help of plenty of you in our community—during our second-annual Barrel Bonanza.
On June 5th, 2021, we sold 417 used Curieux barrels to anyone who was able and willing to come pick them up. We then donated all of that money, just over $30,000, to local charities working to address food insecurity here in Maine. The organizations that were recipients of our barrel bonanza funds are:
