We’re lucky to have a plethora of sights, hikes, adventures, and bites all within our state’s limits. And now that we at Allagash are canning, our beer is able to go places it never could before. To celebrate, we asked our staff where they were excited to bring a can of Allagash White or River Trip. We’ve compiled a highlight of their responses below. Our advice, pick an adventure and bring a couple cans for once you’re done.

1: Morse Mountain

Slip on your hiking boots for a 3.8-mile trek from Morse Mountain to Seawall Beach. This not-too-difficult hike boasts scenic views and a wide-open beach at the end.

2: Carrabassett Valley

The Carrabassett Valley is a fly-fishing mecca. To wet a line up in the wilderness, you can either bring your own rod, or rent from one of the various fly fishing outfits. Enjoy a can after a day of casting.

3:  Newry, Maine

Looking for some air time? Head to Frenchman’s Hole in Newry, Maine. It can be easy to drive by, so go slow. With only a brief hike, you’ll find some excellent rock jumping.

The Peaks Island ferry is a wonderful place to have a can of Allagash White.

4: Peaks Island

In Portland? Hop on the ferry to Peaks Island and crack open a can. Not only will you end up at Peaks—a choice spot for walking, biking or just hanging out—but you’ll get to enjoy the natural beauty of Casco Bay on the way.

5: Hallowell, Maine

Travel to another world with the Vaughan Woods, in Hallowell—or “Hobbit Land” as it’s lovingly known. Expect to see Tolkien-esque covered bridges, emerald fields (in the summer), and plenty of natural beauty along this system of historic walking trails.

6: Cutler Coast

Wayyyyy down east you’ll find the Cutler Coast Public Reserved Land. On this jagged natural land, you’ll find some of the ruggedly gorgeous vistas Maine is known for.

7: Mooselookmeguntic Lake

It’s not a summer in Maine without a float. One choice spot is Mooselookmeguntic Lake up in Rangeley. If you rent a pontoon from Bald Mountain camps, you can also snag a White on draft in their bar, or enjoy a can outside in an Adirondack chair lakeside.

8: Bangor, Maine

If you’re looking for a specific moment in time, how about this: tailgate with fellow Phish phans before one of their annual concerts at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor.

9: Your Backyard

If you’ve got a backyard in Maine (or anywhere else in the country, for that matter), you’re in luck. All you need is a grill, some fresh oysters (our favorite), friends, family, a couple cans, and a plan-free afternoon.
