Short answer: it’s awesome!

It’s also busy, fast-paced, customer-oriented, and multi-faceted. Days are split up between many different tasks: pouring beer, stocking merchandise and beer in the cooler, ringing people up at the register, checking ID’s, keeping things sparkly, and lastly but certainly not leastly: making sure our guests have a phenomenal experience. Phew!

You do not have to be a beer expert to work in our tasting room. A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn about brewing, fermentation, beer styles, and history are key. This is also a highly social role. We have found people who really like chatting with folks and are energized by working with the public generally have the most success.

Part Time

Per Diem

Looking to work a few weekend days a month to earn extra money? Our per-diem opportunity could be right for you.

Paying our employees a living wage

We’re proud to say that everyone who works in our tasting room is paid a competitive, livable hourly wage—well above the minimum wage required by the city of Portland, state of Maine, federal laws and above the MIT Living Wage

It’s important to us that we compensate and treat our Tasting Room employees the same way we pay the rest of our company. This policy allows our entire staff to count on solid income all months of the year, without respect to spikes in visitors or other seasonal changes. We also want the safest possible work environment for all of our employees, and a tipped pay model can compromise healthy boundaries around what interactions with guests look like.

In addition, staff regularly working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for our complete benefits package, including: generous paid time off; medical; dental; disability and life insurance; free mental health counseling; profit sharing; tuition reimbursement of up to $5,250 per person, per year; access to a 24-hour employee fitness center; and many other perks.

Per-diem and part-time employees working less than 20 hours a week receive a modified benefits package including paid time off, use of our fitness center, beer education, and more.

When guests leave behind money beyond the cost of their tab to express gratitude for a great experience, it is donated to one of our charitable partners. Our charitable partners are nominated by employees and selected by representatives of our tasting room staff.
