Rob Tod founded Allagash Brewing Company in 1995, and released one beer: Allagash White. And when we order one away from the brewery, the question we get more often than any other is, “would you like a slice of fruit in it?”

To answer for all of us at Allagash Brewing Company, here’s Rob in his own words.

“I don’t put any fruit in Allagash White. We add coriander and Curacao orange peel during brewing, and if we wanted more fruit in the beer, we’d definitely put it in there.

“That being said, I always appreciate when the server asks, ‘would you like fruit in your beer?’ Because there’s a level of enjoyment that people get from putting that slice of lemon or orange in there. We think that Allagash White has enough balance and flavor on its own, but I’m not here to tell you what you should like.

“I don’t have a problem with people who put fruit in their beer either. Honestly if it makes you happy, then that’s great by us.”

So there you go, we don’t put fruit in Allagash White, but don’t let that stop you.
